Venerabile FRANCISCO GONDRA MURUAGA
Vittoriano Gondra Muruaga (in religious life, Francisco de la Pasión) was a professed priest of the Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ.
He served as a chaplain during the Spanish Civil War– hence his name Aita Patxi, i.e. Father Francisco, as the Basque soldiers called him. He worked in the hospitals of Bilbao as a chaplain and was noted for his great pastoral zeal towards the elderly and the abandoned.
He was declared Venerable in 2008.
